This series consists of 28 Protected Gold Mining Lease and Mineral Lease applications for the Barrow Creek District with a 'BK' prefix. The numbers in the series are between BK 57 and BK 207 but BK 156 - BK 178 and BK 206 are missing. The applications consist of dockets containing Application for Mining Lease forms and associated correspondence. The docket is made up of the folded foolscap forms with the back of the form functioning as the cover of the docket. This cover records the type of lease, the 'BK' number, fees, receipt number and objections, if any. Beneath this is the signature of the Warden, respectfully recommending for approval, is included and the date of approval. The Application for Mining Lease form includes the date of application, the Warden to which it is addressed (Tennant Creek), the name and address of the applicant and the type of lease they are applying for. The applicant has signed that they have complied with the provisions of the Northern Territory Mining Act 1903 and the Regulations. The back of these applications, and the back of the docket, includes the particulars of the locations of the lease which include rough sketches and a detailed typed statement including information about datum pegs, boundaries and lease numbers. Included with the applications are associated correspondence, including letters and telegrams, and associated documents such as Statutory Declarations. In each document in this file Statutory Declarations were lodged in lieu of Plan of Survey but are not present in every file. Each document in the file, including the application form, is stamped with the date of receipt at the relevant Mines Branch.
